GoAnimate Is Now Embed.ly Compatible!

Rich media: it’s so hot right now. People don’t want to read text and click on a boring link. They want a snippet of what they’re about to see; an image, a way to play a song or speech, or better yet – video, since it combines visual and audio elements.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce we’ve partnered with Embed.ly to give you more embedding options for your GoAnimate videos.

So what does it mean?

Ever heard of a professional networking site called LinkedIn? For the .00002% of you out there who haven’t, LinkedIn is the premier site for connecting, maintaining, and increasing your professional network. Whether you represent a company, brand, or yourself, LinkedIn is an amazing way to stay in touch with old contacts and coworkers while generating new leads in a professional, contemporary, online context. You can think of it as an online business rolodex or even as an online resume and portfolio.

Over the years, LinkedIn has made a concerted effort to allow users to generate and view rich media links since it engages people and enriches their online experience.

Prior to our integration with Embed.ly, if you included a link on your LinkedIn profile, it would show up as a thumbnail image that if clicked, would bring the user to your GoAnimate video page to watch the video. Now you can embed a full animated video resume or work sample on your personal page, which will keep a viewer on your profile while they watch your video.

How will it work?

That part’s easy. On GoAnimate, just visit “your account” and “your videos”. Scroll to your video title of choice and move over the right hand side until you see the “<” symbol. Then simply copy your video’s URL. Alternatively, you can click on your video’s title, load the actual video page and just copy the URL out of your browser’s address bar.

Then, go to LinkedIn and select “edit profile.” Mouse over to the add or upload link (looks like a square and a plus symbol). Select ‘add link’ and paste in your video’s URL. Viewers of your profile will see a thumbnail image of your video. But when clicked, instead of taking you off to another site, the video will play in place inside Embed.ly’s rich media overlay.

What about status updates?

When you paste a GoAnimate URL into a personal or business page’s status update, it will show up as a thumbnail image that will bring the user to your GoAnimate video page to watch it if clicked on.

You will get the same results if you use the direct publishing button with the LinkedIn icon on the ‘Your Videos’ page in GoAnimate.

Easy right? We thought so.

Happy animating from your friends at GoAnimate
