By now, we all know COVID-19 or the Coronavirus mainly spreads through close contact with someone who's infected. It can spread through coughs, sneezes, or any droplet from the mouth or nose even just through normal talking. Did you also know that people can be infected with the coronavirus and not show any symptoms?
So if I don't know who has the virus and who doesn't, how can I protect myself and others? By social distancing or physical distancing. In addition to other known steps to prevent COVID-19, like washing your hands often and covering your coughs and sneezes, keeping a minimum of 6 feet between yourself and other people outside your home, even when wearing a face-covering, is one of the best tools we have to prevent exposure to this virus, slow its spread, and flatten the curve.
What does it mean to flatten the curve? In this case, flattening the curve means reducing the number of people who are sick all at once, so our local healthcare systems are not overburdened.
You can further help by following guidelines from your local health authorities and making sure not to gather in groups and avoid crowded places. Social distancing is one of the best things we can do to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus locally, across the country, and the world.
